Sports Counseling and Therapy
Sports counseling offers an opportunity to examine and develop character, integrity, dignity, teamwork, responsibility, communication and leadership skills, emotional self-regulation, life balance, and perspective through competition. Today athletes are bigger, stronger, more self-centered, use more drugs, and are more prone to antisocial behavior than ever. Sports and athletic competition can be a metaphor for life allowing all involved an opportunity to grieve, grow, and find life fulfillment. Through recreation and competition, clients may examine their personal strengths, weakness, and coping skills in an attempt to promote authentic character and a code of conduct for life. Sports counseling may be beneficial to individuals, parents, families, teams, and coaches.
